Suggestions
- ⚠️Starting 5 years later would shrink the corpus by ₹71.22 L — time in the market matters most.
- 📌A 40% annuity would raise the monthly pension to ₹35,669 but reduce the lump sum to ₹98.78 L.
- 📌A pension of ₹17,834/month in 30 years is worth about ₹3,105 today (at 6% inflation). Most annuities do not rise with inflation.
- 📌NPS returns are market-linked and not guaranteed; 10% is an assumption. Minimum annuity for your subscriber type: 20% of the corpus. Check current PFRDA and tax rules before deciding.

How it's calculated
- NPS has no fixed rate: returns depend on markets and your fund mix. The presets are long-run assumptions, not forecasts.
- Contributions are invested monthly and grow at the assumed return; they rise by the step-up % each year. At retirement, the annuity share buys a pension; the rest can be withdrawn.
- Minimum annuity: 20% for all-citizen and corporate subscribers and 40% for government subscribers, per PFRDA's December 2025 amendment as reported. Small corpuses have different limits, and tax treatment differs from the withdrawal limit — confirm on PFRDA before deciding.
- Annuity rates vary by insurer and option; 6.5% is an illustration. Most annuities pay a fixed amount that does not rise with inflation.
